One More Time

Brief History of The Prophets

The Prophets were originally formed around 1963 by Brian McDowell, Paul Levesque, Breen LeBoeuf and Craig Rodwell. We performed in and around North Bay for approximately 7 years. In that period we had a number of personnel changes including adding Jerry Hennessy on Bass, Cliff Gervais on Keyboard followed by Andy Parisien on vocals and then Steve Carke on drums.

Our present lineup of Breen LeBoeuf, Lead Vocals and Bass (sometimes Keyboard), Andy Parisien, Lead vocals and Keyboards, Brian McDowell, Background Vocals and Guitar and Steve Clarke, Drums was the final makeup of the band. We were fortunate to be playing at a time when hiring live bands for high school dances was the norm. As a result, we were able to play at teen dances virtually every weekend. We travelled as far north as Timmins playing most of the centres between at one time or another. We travelled as far east as Deep River and west to Sudbury. We were regulars at Nichols “Pavilion” in Sundridge and also made our way as far south as Niagara Falls to compete in a band contest (which we did not win).

We had the good fortune and health to put together a show in 2008 which we called “The Prophets — Rockin’ Reunion” It was great to see many of our friends from years gone by at this occasion. In 2010, we reunited once more to play another show entitled “The Prophets — Encore” which in addition to giving us another chance to relive our youth, became a vehicle through which we were able to raise a little over $4,000.00 which we donated to the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer research in memory of Brian’s daughter Tina-Lisa Skerrett.

Our Show this time entitled, “The Prophets — Still Kickin’” is once more an excuse to rekindle our musical friendship. We will be bringing back our favourite tunes from the last two shows as well as adding a few other classic tunes of the 60s. We hope also to raise some funds for “All Heart Pet Rescue” through the sale of souvenir DVDs. This time there will be one show only and we look forward to playing at “Partners Billiards” which we believe will be an audience-friendly venue where all seats are good seats. We hope you will join us.
